Advanced Analysis

Featured Content

Innography Advanced Analysis provides comprehensive, online Intellectual Property Business Intelligence (IPBI) by correlating patent and trademark data with financial, litigation and other key business information. IP research, due diligence and legal examinations that traditionally take weeks to complete can be achieved in a matter of minutes using capabilities and visualizations only available from Innography.

Because Advanced Analysis is a business intelligence application at its heart, rather than simply acquiring data and providing search tools, the result is an integrated experience, in which companies can make decisions from a single set of information instead of manually trying to fit different data sources together.

Advanced Analysis features enable IP professionals in numerous roles to take advantage of and protect their organization's IP assets including:

  • Licensing: Monetize portfolios; identify and qualify licensing candidates and enabling technology; evaluate companies to approach first
  • Litigation: View litigation trends and predict threats; find invalidating prior art; develop defense and assertion strategies
  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Assure clean patent titles; find and evaluate target companies; mitigate portfolio acquisition risks
  • Competitive Intelligence: Access competitive information and market positions; identify market strengths and weaknesses
  • Risk Management: Analytics for the development of risk plans, strategy development and mitigation alternatives
  • Innovation & Patentability: Explore technology landscapes; mine for connections and adjacencies; uncover development opportunities
  • IP Strategies: Track and monitor IP investments; view market landscapes; determine positioning and portfolio comparisons

Interactive Visualizations

Advanced Analysis generates more than 50 interactive visualizations to help organizations reduce the effort and expense needed to conduct IP analysis. These tools enable the mapping of technology trends; classification similarities; concept and claims maps; market, geographic, company and classification landscapes; assignment relationships; and forward and backward citation mapping. Example visualizations include:

Project Collaboration

Advanced Analysis enables creation of project work spaces to save search results, upload documents and categorize those documents as desired. Colleagues can collaborate on projects, review and share analysis, refine search results and save project results. Plus, an image of any visualization can be e-mailed to interested parties who don’t have access.

Text Clustering

This feature enables visual identification and analysis of similarities between patents of interest. Information is displayed in a 2-level, hierarchical, interactive circles visual showing major text clusters, which represent all the patents being analyzed. This display enables a better understanding of how the patents are textually similar so that you can quickly focus on the details that are most important.

One-Click Wizards

Quickly and easily gain valuable insight with these one-click wizards:

  • Portfolio inventory, predictive assignment and portfolio comparison
  • Reassignment relationships and portfolio maintenance
  • Invalidation and infringement research with corporate and litigation profiles
  • Competitive intelligence and semantic prior art searching

Both IPC and USPC Data

Search and filter using both IPC and USPC codes to visualize similarity and relationships between patents.

Flexible Group Selection

Selecting custom patent sets is easy with group selection which enables easy selection of a range of patents from a sorted list. When selecting entire groups in Table Grid mode, you can also select all patents within the groups of interest in order to:

  • Tag all patents at any hierarchy level from a given classification code or text cluster
  • Save all members in a company or related to a concept to a project
  • Perform custom analysis on a subset of patents from user-defined labels

Condensed Project Labels

Easily review labeled patents with condensed project labels which allows on and off toggle viewing of all labels for a saved patent in the project view to make it easier to scan long lists of patents in a project.

Alerts

In addition to being able to save all search results, search queries can also be saved and automatic notification by e-mail or RSS feed can be triggered if query results change.

Extended References

Extended References provide additional context to your analysis by correlating diverse data sources to provide unique insight, including:

  • International Litigation: View patents litigated in China, Japan, UK, Germany, France, Australia and Canada as well as U.S. International Trade Commission investigations.
  • Technical Standards: Understand which organizations and their IP are impacted by standards bodies such as IEEE, IETF and ANSI.
  • Pharmaceutical Sources: Find patents by chemical name or drug name that are listed in FDA Orange Book, FDA Green Book, Health Canada, Europe and China.
  • Scientific Journals: Search non-patent literature from many academic and professional journals across disciplines including Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Medicine and Physics.

Patent to Product Mapping

Using a proprietary trademark correlation method, Innography enables you to understand which products and patents are likely associated with each other. This unique capability can help surface competitive trends as well as identify new and previously hidden licensing opportunities.

File History

Full File History reports on all patents within Innography's database are now offered as an option. These reports enable users to download and view the entire prosecution history of any patent. Information available within the File History may include, but is not limited to:

  • Date of application filings
