It wouldn’t be Christmas without a song that contains a series of increasingly grand gifts given twelve days before the big day. The song, published in England in 1780, seems a little out-of-date. I mean, really who needs twelve drummers drumming alongside seven swans swimming around?! Lucky for us, hair metal band Twisted Sister dropped a holiday album, A Twisted Christmas, in 2006. Football fans are all too familiar with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The number of National Football League (NFL) players diagnosed in the last decade has skyrocketed, and even Hollywood is bringing CTE to the forefront of our cultural landscape with movies like Concussion. Former, deceased players such as Frank Gifford and Junior Seau donated their brains for definitive CTE diagnosis and research, and thousands of former players have already received their payouts from the NLF as part of an on-going lawsuit. Neurodegenerative disorders sequela to CTE include amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and even Alzheimer’s disease, with even more certain to appear on the horizon.
